Wash Up Without the Plastic Guilt
The standard washing-up brush is a lump of plastic that sheds microplastics into your sink water and sits in landfill for centuries. The Wild and Stone Coconut Fibre Dish Brush is made from coconut husk bristles, FSC® certified beechwood, and stainless steel wire — nothing synthetic, nothing that won't break down. The angled head reaches into the corners of pans and mugs with ease, the bristles cut through grease without scratching non-stick surfaces, and the whole brush biodegrades at end of life.

Why Coconut Coir?
Coconut coir is made from the husks of coconuts — a by-product that would otherwise go to waste. It is one of the toughest natural fibres available: highly resistant to moisture, naturally antibacterial, and fully biodegradable. The bristles are firm enough to tackle baked-on residue and grease, yet gentle enough for non-stick pans and delicate glassware. Always spot test on particularly delicate surfaces before use.

How to Use
Apply washing-up liquid directly to the bristles or to your dishes and scrub as normal. The angled head is particularly effective for reaching into the base of mugs, the corners of pans, and the inside of glasses. Rinse the brush thoroughly after each use and stand upright or hang to air dry. Avoid leaving the handle submerged in hot water for extended periods — the brush head is attached with natural glue, and prolonged soaking will shorten its life. Dry well between washes to maximise longevity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this brush safe for non-stick pans?
Yes — the coconut coir bristles are firm but not abrasive enough to damage non-stick coatings under normal use. Always spot test on particularly delicate or specialist surfaces before use.
Is the brush fully biodegradable?
Yes. The beechwood handle, coconut coir bristles, and stainless steel wire are all natural or recyclable materials. At end of life, the brush can be composted — the stainless steel wire can be separated and recycled.
Why should I avoid soaking the handle in hot water?
The brush head is attached to the handle using natural glue. Prolonged soaking in hot water can soften this bond over time. Rinse and air dry after each use to keep the brush in good condition for longer.
What does FSC® certified mean?
FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification guarantees the beechwood is sourced from responsibly managed forests that protect biodiversity and support local communities.
Is the brush vegan?
Yes, entirely. Coconut coir is a plant-derived fibre, and no animal products or by-products are used anywhere in the brush.
How does this compare to a plastic dish brush?
A plastic dish brush sheds microplastics into your sink water with every use and takes centuries to decompose. This brush contains no plastic — it cleans just as effectively and biodegrades completely at end of life.
