The Pot Brush That Means Business — Without the Plastic
A sponge harbours bacteria, sheds synthetic fibres, and falls apart within weeks. The Wild and Stone Wooden Pot Brush is the opposite: a compact, ergonomic tool handmade in Germany from FSC® certified beechwood and natural Tampico fibre bristles that absorb 65% more water than plastic and maintain their performance over time. At 8 cm tall and 6 cm in diameter, it fits comfortably in the hand and reaches into the base of pots, pans, and mugs with ease. Particularly effective on stainless steel and cast iron. Fully compostable at end of life.

The Power of Tampico Fibre
Tampico fibre is sourced from the Agave Lechuguilla cactus, grown naturally in Mexico. It is naturally abrasive, absorbs 65% more water than plastic bristles, and maintains its cleaning performance over time — making it ideal for heavy-duty scrubbing on stainless steel, cast iron, and ceramic cookware. The bristles are firm enough to tackle baked-on residue and grease, yet won't scratch most cookware surfaces under normal use. Always spot test on particularly delicate or non-stick surfaces before use.
Why Wooden Over Synthetic?
Conventional sponges are petroleum-based, harbour bacteria, and release microplastics and chemicals into wastewater with every use. This brush is natural, non-toxic, and far more hygienic — the open bristle structure dries quickly between uses, reducing bacterial build-up. At end of life, the entire brush goes into the home compost bin.
How to Use
For best results, soak pots and pans in hot water first to loosen residue, then scrub with the pot brush using circular motions. The compact 6 cm diameter head reaches into the base of pots, mugs, and deep pans with ease. Rinse the brush thoroughly after each use and allow to air dry — avoid leaving it soaking in hot water for extended periods, as this can soften the natural materials over time. Keep dry between uses to maximise bristle life. Spot test on very delicate or non-stick surfaces before use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this brush suitable for non-stick pans?
Tampico bristles are firm and mildly abrasive. Always spot test on non-stick or delicate surfaces before use. The brush is particularly well suited to stainless steel and cast iron cookware.
Is the brush fully compostable?
Yes — both the FSC® certified beechwood body and the Tampico fibre bristles are biodegradable and can be composted at home at end of life.
Why do Tampico bristles absorb more water than plastic?
Tampico fibre is a natural plant-based material with a porous structure that absorbs and retains water more effectively than synthetic plastic bristles — making it more efficient at lifting grease and residue from cookware surfaces.
What does FSC® certified mean?
FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification guarantees the beechwood is sourced from responsibly managed forests that protect biodiversity and support local communities.
Why is it dispatched without packaging?
This is a packaging-free product, sent with only a label to eliminate unnecessary waste.
Is the brush vegan?
Yes, entirely. Both the beechwood and Tampico fibre are plant-derived. No animal products or by-products are used anywhere in the brush.
